Yamaha ends Motorcycle assembly in Pakistan – official dealer notice confirms

In a major development that confirms recent industry speculation, Yamaha Motor Pakistan (Private) Limited has formally announced the discontinuation of its motorcycle manufacturing operations in Pakistan. The company issued an official notification to its dealer network, marking its complete withdrawal from local production and signaling a turning point for Japanese auto brands in the country.

The announcement, dated from Yamaha’s Bin Qasim Industrial Park facility in Karachi, cites a policy change by the parent company, Yamaha Motor Co., Ltd. (Japan), as the reason for this decision. Yamaha will now transition from local production to eventual withdrawal from business operations in Pakistan, making it the first Japanese two-wheeler brand to exit the market in recent years.

In the letter, Yamaha thanked its dealers for their continued support and outlined the steps it will take to wind down operations transparently. Cessation of new production and limited supply of motorcycles based solely on available inventory.

Continued sales during the contract termination period, subject to certain conditions, including that dealers must clear any outstanding receivables before receiving new stock.

No new orders will be accepted beyond available inventory.

This operational shutdown is a major blow to Yamaha’s presence in Pakistan, where it had steadily built a loyal customer base and dealership network.

To maintain support for existing customers, Yamaha confirmed that spare parts will remain available for a limited period, even after production ends. Dealers have been requested to continue selling Yamaha genuine parts after signing a renewed agreement.

In terms of product reliability, Yamaha assured its partners that the warranty for motorcycles—both in existing dealer inventory and those to be shipped during the transition—will remain valid under the current warranty handbook terms. The company will also maintain sufficient inventory of spare parts to support both after-sales service and warranty claims during this transition phase.
