EDB urges Electric Vehicle Manufacturers to Submit 2 & 3-Wheeler Models for PAVE Scheme
The Engineering Development Board (EDB) has issued a reminder to electric vehicle (EV) manufacturers for the timely submission of their 2-wheeler and 3-wheeler electric vehicle models under the Pakistan Electric Vehicles (PAVE) Demand Incentivization Scheme. This follows up on an earlier communication dated March 28, 2025.
The manufacturers are requested to provide complete documentation and specifications for Electric Scooters, Motorbikes, Rickshaws, and Cargo Loaders to qualify for incentives under the scheme. The deadline for submissions is May 23, 2025.
The PAVE Scheme, a flagship initiative aimed at accelerating EV adoption in Pakistan, offers pre-qualification and potential subsidies to local manufacturers to support the production and availability of electric mobility solutions. It particularly targets affordable electric transportation options, which are vital for urban and semi-urban commuting in the country.
“This initiative reflects our continued commitment to supporting the local electric vehicle industry, advancing sustainable mobility solutions, and ensuring the wider availability of subsidized Electric Vehicles across Pakistan,” the EDB stated.
Industry stakeholders have welcomed the government’s ongoing efforts to boost local EV production, especially in light of rising fuel costs and environmental concerns. By encouraging the adoption of 2 and 3-wheel electric vehicles, the EDB aims to reduce carbon emissions and create opportunities for local innovation and employment.
Interested parties are strongly urged to meet the May 23 deadline to ensure inclusion in the current phase of the PAVE Scheme. Late submissions may result in exclusion from the incentive process.
For further details, applicants are encouraged to refer to the original circular or contact the EDB directly.
