PGE - Electric Vehicles set to transform Civic Sanitation in Karachi
In a landmark step toward eco-friendly urban development, Pacific Green Energy (PGE) is set to hand over 150 units of 3-wheeler electric vehicles to Hangzhou Jinjiang Group Sanitation Services Co., Pakistan (Pvt) Ltd., a leading operator of municipal cleaning in Karachi. With this initiative, Karachi becomes the first city in Pakistan to adopt 3-wheeler electric vehicles for public sanitation, marking a significant milestone in the nation’s green transformation.
This is the first time in
Pakistan's history that the 3 wheeler electric vehicles are being deployed
in the civic sector. The electric vehicles, designed for efficient waste
collection, are equipped with a 1.5-ton loading capacity, a Lithium battery,
and 1800W motor power. Each unit also features a hydraulic
jack-powered tilt deck, ensuring ease of operation and optimized waste
disposal.
Hangzhou Jinjiang Group, known for
its commitment to innovation and sustainable sanitation solutions, has invested significantly in this fleet. The company's long-term vision is to lead
Pakistan's sanitation industry by integrating cutting-edge technology and
green practices into everyday operations. With this fleet upgrade, Karachi’s
sanitation services are expected to see improved efficiency, lower emissions,
and reduced operational costs.
Pacific Green Energy established its newly operational facility in the Sunder Industrial Estate, Lahore, which was officially inaugurated by Federal Minister Ahsan Iqbal in March 2025. This facility marks a significant milestone in local electric vehicle (EV) manufacturing, driving job creation and promoting technological advancement in Pakistan.
This collaborative effort between
PGE and Hangzhou Jinjiang Group demonstrates a commitment to cleaner cities and lays the foundation for a broader national shift toward environmentally
responsible civic services.
As Karachi paves the way, other cities are expected to follow suit, embracing electric mobility as a vital part of urban infrastructure.
