Pak Suzuki Leads Green Revolution with Groundbreaking of Pakistan’s First Automotive Biogas Plant

Lahore, April 26, 2025 — Pak Suzuki Motor Company, the leading automobile manufacturer in Pakistan, has taken a major step toward sustainable transportation by launching the country’s first state-of-the-art biogas plant dedicated to powering automobiles. Located at its Manga Mandi facility, just 40 kilometers from Lahore, this landmark project reflects the company’s commitment to reducing carbon emissions and promoting clean, green, and affordable biofuels.

The groundbreaking ceremony, held today, was led by the Honorable Special Assistant to the Prime Minister (SAPM) on Industries & Production, Haroon Akhtar Khan. He praised Pak Suzuki’s forward-thinking initiative and highlighted the immense potential of biogas technology to support Pakistan’s environmental goals while reducing reliance on imported petroleum products for both the transport and industrial sectors.

“This is a historic moment,” said Haroon Akhtar Khan. “By taking the first-mover advantage in biogas technology for the automobile sector, Pak Suzuki sets an example for the entire industry. Biogas can potentially reduce our carbon footprint significantly while saving billions in petrol imports.”

The biogas plant, envisioned as a model facility, aims to serve as a catalyst for private sector investment in biofuel technologies across Pakistan. It aligns with Suzuki Motor Corporation Japan’s environmental vision and reinforces Pak Suzuki’s dedication to contributing to national climate action targets.

MD and CEO of Pak Suzuki, Hiroshi Kawamura, expressed deep gratitude to the government for its continued support. “This project is not just about clean fuel,” Kawamura stated. “It’s about driving socio-economic progress, creating employment, reducing environmental harm, and ensuring energy affordability.
