Electric Scooter Market Accelerates with Growing Local Production and Demand
The electric scooter market in Pakistan has seen notable growth between July 2022 and January 2025, with increasing local production and a diversified range of products entering the market.
As the shift toward eco-friendly transportation gains momentum, over 30 companies have introduced electric scooters in the country, with many initially entering the market through Completely Built Units (CBUs).
With favorable government policies and rising fuel costs, the adoption of electric two-wheelers is likely to accelerate, making Pakistan a promising market for EV innovation and investment.
Currently, there are 15 types of electric scooters and electric motorcycles available, ranging from 300W to 3000W in power capacity. Among these, the 1000W category has emerged as the most popular, accounting for 26% of the market demand. It is followed by 1200W scooters with a 21% share, 1500W at 16%, 600W with 14%, and 2000W at 11%, indicating a growing preference for mid-range electric scooters due to their balance of power, efficiency, and affordability.
The EVEE S1 has become a standout performer, achieving the highest single-product sales across all categories since October 2023. It commands a 75% market share in the 1200W category, reflecting strong consumer confidence in the brand and model.
In the 1000W category, a fierce competition is unfolding among three leading products: the Evee GenZ, Yuan Jun Azadi, and Road King RKEV-70. Market analysts report that all three models are neck-and-neck in terms of sales, reflecting their growing popularity and consumer demand. However, sources within the industry indicate that Gen Z is showing the fastest growth trajectory. If the current trend continues, it is expected to surpass its rivals and claim the top position in market share by the third quarter of the 2024-25 fiscal year.
In the 1500W category, the Jolta JE-70D electric motorcycle leads with a significant 46% share. Similarly, the Metro T9 holds a 42% share in the 600W category, showcasing its popularity among commuters seeking lightweight and efficient scooters.
Other top performers include Ramza, which leads the 2000W category with a 47% market share, and the Hi Speed i500, which tops the 500W category. In the 800W segment, the GenZ Electric Scooter is the market leader, while the OKLA-OMAX Electric Scooter dominates the high-performance 3000W category.
The increasing variety of models and the growing presence of local manufacturers suggest a positive outlook for Pakistan’s electric scooter market.
As infrastructure and charging networks improve, the demand for cleaner, cost-effective mobility solutions is expected to rise even further.
