First Trade Shipment from China to UAE via Pakistan begins

The National Logistics Corporation (NLC) has achieved a significant milestone in international trade by launching the first-ever trade shipment from China to the UAE via Pakistan’s land-sea route under the Transports Internationaux Routiers (TIR) system. This historic shipment signifies a major development in the China-Pakistan Economic Corridor (CPEC), facilitating smoother and faster trade between the two nations.

The shipment, which departed from Kashgar in Xinjiang, China, is carrying electronic equipment and will travel through Pakistan’s Sost Dry Port in Gilgit-Baltistan before reaching Karachi and finally Dubai’s Jebel Ali Port. By taking this innovative land-sea route, the transit time has been reduced to just 10 days, a remarkable improvement compared to traditional methods.

This development comes as a result of the operationalization of the Khunjerab Pass, which is now open year-round, further enhancing trade efficiency. The new route is expected to offer substantial benefits to the business community by reducing delays and transportation costs, while also improving regional connectivity, ultimately strengthening economic ties across the region.
