An Exclusive Interview with Ms. Xuduo, CEO, OKLA Global

Ms. Xuduo is the CEO of OKLA Global, a forward-thinking brand under the Taizhou China Science and Technology Development umbrella. Founded in 2015, OKLA Global is at the forefront of the electric vehicle industry. During her recent visit to Pakistan, she had the honor of attending the Pakistan Auto Show in Lahore, one of the most significant automotive events in the country. While in Pakistan, she also sat down for an exclusive interview with MOBILE WORLD Magazine, where she discussed OKLA Global's vision for the future of electric mobility.


Q: Would you like to provide a brief history of your company and its mission in the electric scooter market? In how many countries your brand is currently operating? 

A: We originally started with the brand Motrac, focusing on gasoline vehicles. But as we saw the world shifting towards electric, we knew we had to adapt. So, in 2015, we started the brand OKLA for electric vehicles and OKLATEC solution of the electric vehicle too from 2018. 

Our mission since has been to lead the charge in sustainable urban mobility with innovative and high-quality electric scooters and good solution on the Tec, R&D, production, etc.

OKLA is available in more than 35 countries in Europe, Asia, Africa, and Mid-East and South America.

Q: What motivated your company to enter the Pakistani market? 

A: We saw great opportunity in Pakistan’s rapidly growing urban centers, where people are looking for reliable and cost-effective transportation. By entering this market, OKLA can provide a greener alternative and help drive the shift towards electric mobility.

Q: What is your assessment of current electric scooter market in Pakistan? 

A: We as OKLA see the electric scooter market in Pakistan as an emerging but high-potential sector. While infrastructure is still developing, the growing awareness of environmental sustainability, large youth demographic, and early government interest in green transport policies present favorable conditions for market growth. OKLA is optimistic about the future of electric scooters in Pakistan and sees an opportunity to lead the way in providing eco-friendly, cost-effective, and modern mobility solutions as infrastructure and awareness continue to evolve.

Q: Who do you consider your main competitors in the region, and how do you differentiate your products? 

A: OKLA recognizes competitors in Pakistan’s E2W market, including local startups and traditional motorbike companies transitioning to electric options. However, OKLA differentiates it by focusing on advanced technology, eco-friendly operations, and designs tailored to Pakistani roads. We prioritize customer comfort, offer convenient shared mobility options and matching lady requirements, and build strong partnerships with local JV Company to enhance urban infrastructure and work for localization. With a commitment to long-term reliability and robust after-sales service, OKLA aims to offer not only a product but a complete electric mobility experience.

Q: What features set your electric scooters apart from others available in Pakistan? 

A: Firstly our scooters are built to European standards, highlighting our commitment to quality and safety. Secondly OKLA electric scooters are equipped with an optional choice for smart connectivity for app-based control and a smart charge solution with fast charging, a long-lasting and removable battery, We are cooperating and using world No 1 quality batteries from Ampace (JV of ATL AND CATL), and ensure battery warranty to assure customers of their durability, meanwhile, safety features like anti-theft protection, LED lighting, and GPS tracking. Designed for comfort, durability, and performance, our scooters deliver smooth rides on challenging urban roads and include eco-friendly elements such as a low carbon footprint and recyclable materials. With options for shared and subscription-based access, OKLA scooters provide sustainable, flexible mobility to meet the needs of modern urban commuters.”

Q: Are there any upcoming models or technologies that you are particularly excited about? 

A: We’re thrilled about several upcoming technologies and models that will set new standards in the electric scooter market. From ultra-fast charging batteries with smart charging solutions, for-example we recently launched new models in OKLA PAKISTAN at the 2024 PAPS exhibition-OVEGA, OMIGO, OMAX, OKG, and OVA are all available for fast charging supporting with same battery 74V/28AH and autonomous features to advanced safety systems and AR-enhanced navigation, our next-gen scooters are designed to provide riders with a safer, more connected, and eco-friendly experience. Each model reflects our commitment to creating sustainable, convenient, and cutting-edge urban mobility solutions that transform the way people move through their cities.”

Q: What is your company’s strategy for expanding its market presence in Pakistan? 

A: OKLA’s expansion strategy in Pakistan focuses on forging strong local partnerships by JV company, building critical infrastructure, and tailoring product offerings to meet the unique needs of Pakistani consumers. By investing in a reliable charging network, launching shared mobility options, and emphasizing localization manufacturing and marketing in order to control the cost and quality, we aim to provide accessible, sustainable transportation solutions for Pakistan’s urban population. Through ongoing community engagement and customer support, OKLA is committed to creating a meaningful, long-lasting impact in the Pakistani market.

This strategy emphasizes OKLA’s commitment to delivering a user-focused, locally attuned experience that aligns with Pakistan’s mobility and sustainability goals.

Q: How do you plan to address the needs and preferences of Pakistani consumers? 

A: OKLA’s approach to meeting the preferences of Pakistani consumers is grounded in product customization, financial flexibility, comprehensive infrastructure, and responsive support. Through these tailored initiatives, OKLA aims to provide affordable, durable, and accessible electric mobility solutions while fostering sustainable urban transportation in Pakistan. By building a robust ecosystem that addresses local conditions and consumer expectations, OKLA is positioned to lead Pakistan’s transition toward greener, more efficient mobility.

We’ve introduced a range of models, including OMIGO and OKG that are tailored specifically to the needs and preferences of Pakistani riders. OMIGO, for instance, is compact and maneuverable, ideal for women, while OKG appeals to men with its street bike style and family-friendly design. Alongside these, we offer other models to ensure that every type of rider can find a scooter that suits their lifestyle and preferences. 

Each model is crafted to handle Pakistan’s roads and conditions, so our customers can expect a smooth, reliable experience.

Q:  What are the biggest challenges your company faces in Pakistani market? 

A: OKLA’s biggest challenges in the Pakistani market is still quite new, include limited charging infrastructure, high initial costs, lack of public awareness, challenging weather and road conditions, regulatory hurdles, and supply chain complexities. Addressing these obstacles involves a strategic combination of building infrastructure partnerships, offering flexible financing, launching educational campaigns, designing durable products, and working with policymakers. 

By proactively tackling these challenges, OKLA aims to make electric mobility a viable, appealing, and sustainable choice for Pakistani consumers.

So we’re in the process of understanding and setting industry standards. There’s also a need to educate consumers on the benefits of electric vehicles and why they’re a better option for the future. It’s a learning curve, both for us and for the market, but we’re committed to building awareness and setting a high standard.

Q: How do you navigate regulatory and operational challenges in this region? 

A: OKLA navigates regulatory and operational challenges in Pakistan by actively engaging with policymakers, ensuring localized compliance, forming strategic partnerships, and adapting to local policies and market demands. 

Through flexible business models, efficient supply chains, and a commitment to regulatory transparency, OKLA is well-positioned to establish itself as a trusted, compliant player in Pakistan’s emerging electric vehicle market.

Q: Can you share your experience working with local partner in Pakistan, and how their collaboration has impacted your company’s operations and market entry strategy? 

A: Partnering with OKLA PAKISTAN has had a positive impact on our market strategy. Their guidance has allowed us to better understand the market and streamline operations to suit local conditions. Both teams are learning from each other, and after collaborating at the exhibition, we’ve developed an even stronger bond. This shared experience has reinforced our joint commitment to bringing the best of OKLA to the Pakistani market while also helping us grow together.

Q: What insights did you gain from participating in the recent Pakistan Auto Show, and how do you believe it will influence your company’s strategy in the local market?

A: The turnout and enthusiasm at the Pakistan Auto Show exceeded our expectations. We were overwhelmed by how many people came to visit, try out our bikes, and share their thoughts. It was a perfect opportunity to showcase not only our new models but also the wider range we offer, and it provided us with valuable insights into customer preferences. The show was a great platform for building brand awareness and connecting with our audiences in a meaningful way.

Q: What is your approach to after-sales service and support for customers in Pakistan? 

A: Our approach to after-sales goes beyond just service and support—we also focus on educating our riders about electric vehicles. We want our customers to feel confident and informed about their scooters, so we offer guidance on EV maintenance, usage, and best practices. By combining reliable after-sales support with education, we’re helping our customers get the most out of their OKLA experience.

Q: What are your long-term goals for the company in Pakistan? 

A: In the long run, firstly we want to establish OKLA as a trusted brand in the Pakistan market. Our vision is to educate the public on the benefits of electric mobility, build strong brand recognition, and offer accessible, high-quality options for all types of riders. Ultimately, we want to set the standard for electric vehicles in Pakistan and become the go-to brand for sustainable mobility. And long-term goals in Pakistan also need focus on establishing a market-leading position, creating an accessible electric mobility ecosystem, and supporting sustainable economic and environmental growth. Through localized production, widespread charging infrastructure, and consumer education initiatives, OKLA is committed to making electric scooters a mainstream choice in Pakistan, paving the way for a greener, more connected future.

Q: How do you envision the electric scooter market evolving in the next five years? 

A: We believe the next five years will bring a real transformation in the electric scooter market, with EVs becoming widely accepted as a primary mode of transport. With advances in battery technology, charging infrastructure, and public awareness, electric scooters will likely become a preferred choice for commuting. OKLA plans to stay ahead by continually adapting and leading the charge in this evolving landscape driven by supportive policies, infrastructure development, and evolving consumer attitudes. By staying innovative and consumer-focused, OKLA plans to be a key player in this shift, helping to make electric scooters a practical and sustainable choice for millions.

Q: What has been your proudest moment as CEO and Founder of this company?

A: My proudest moment as CEO was seeing OKLA become a truly global brand with dedicated experience centers and showrooms around the world. Opening our OKLA experience center in Pakistan and establishing showrooms in Morocco, Vietnam, and Turkiye have been significant milestones. Watching our team’s hard work bring sustainable transportation to diverse markets and seeing customers connect with our vision has been incredibly rewarding. It’s fulfilling to know we’re making a positive impact on a global scale.

Q: What advice would you give to entrepreneurs looking to enter the electric vehicle market? 

A: My advice is to encourage aspiring entrepreneurs in the electric vehicle market to thoroughly understand market dynamics, prioritize sustainability and innovation, build strong partnerships, engage customers, and ensure high-quality products and after-sales support, and commit to customers education. Building a trusted brand, especially with new technology, committed to their vision while being adaptable to changes will be key to navigating this evolving industry.

Q: Is there anything else you would like to share about your company or the electric scooter industry in Pakistan? 

A: OKLA’s journey in Pakistan is just beginning, and we’re thrilled about the possibilities ahead. The support we’ve received in Pakistan shows that people are ready for this change, and we’re proud to be part of it.
