Recently, Chery Group signed a strategic cooperation framework agreement with Contemporary Amperex Technology Co., Limited. (CATL), and the two sides will carry out all-around cooperation in various fields, such as products, commerce, market promotion, and commercial information resources. In addition to the batter supply and technical cooperation of passenger vehicles, the two sides intend to conduct joint exploration in terms of mass transit, EIC technology integration of new energy, and battery swap service in the fields of buses, logistics vehicles, heavy trucks, and electric ships, boosting and leading the high-quality development of the automobile industry.

CATL, the world's largest power battery manufacturer, focuses on the research, development, production, and sales of power battery systems and energy storage systems for NEVs, and stays committed to providing first-class solutions for global new energy applications. With regards to the global market performance, CATL has provided power batteries to numerous well-known automobile enterprises, including Mercedes Benz, BMW, and Tesla, which have occupied more than 30% of the global market for a long time and won first place for five consecutive years.

While in terms of Chery, it has been engaged in the research and development of new energy technology as early as 1999, which can be said to be one of the earliest automobile enterprises in China to enter this field. The past two decades have witnessed the achievement of Chery's perfect R&D system of new energy technology, including vehicle integration, core technology, and core parts development capabilities. In particular, Chery has made significant breakthroughs in core domains such as EIC technology and lightweight technology. Up to now, Chery has applied for more than 900 patents in the field of new energy and obtained more than 600 patents, ranking first in the Chinese automobile enterprises, and third globally.

So far, Chery has formulated a "457" technology development plan, which involves four vehicle powertrain platforms, five general subsystems, and seven core technologies, covering sedan products from Class A to Class C and SUV products from Class B to Class D with pure electric, hybrid electric, extended-range electric, fuel-cell, and other new energy technologies.

Thanks to its powerful technical strength and complete strategic layout, Chery eQ1, a lightweight pure electric NEV with an all-aluminum body, not only set a precedent in the automobile industry but also ranked first in the market segment with a sales volume of 300,000 units. In terms of hybrid technology, Chery has successfully developed the world's first fully-functional hybrid DHT, leading the development of hybrid technology in the world with the unique advantage of "3 engines, 3 gears, 9 working modes, and 11-speed ratios".

However, as the development of new energy has become a global consensus, the automobile industry is also in the historical opportunity period of the transition between the traditional and innovative stages. Obviously, Chery has taken the lead in entering the high-speed process of new energy and started a new chapter of development. The first 10 months of this year witnessed that Chery's sales of new energy products exceeded 210,000 units, up 182% year-on-year, far surpassing the overall growth rate of the whole industry.

Therefore, by joining hands with CATL this time, Chery will establish a new situation of powerful combination and coordinated development. Moreover, Chery will further explore the field of new energy technology and practice the corporate concept of green development, and work together with partners to promote the sustainable development of the new energy industry and the popularization of electric vehicles, thus facilitating to achieve the goal of "carbon peaking and carbon neutrality".
