The statistics issued by Information Statistics
Department of China Association of Automobile
Manufacturers (CAAM) collected from 91 main Chinese
motorcycle manufacturers export products data for the
1st half of year 2011 were as under.
The top 5 displacement motorcycle exports (volume of
export, reported on 18 July 2011), compared with the 1st
half year of 2010:

The top five displacements exported 4.4956 million of
motorcycle, accounting for 91% of total motorcycle
displacement exports in the 1st half year of 2011. The

Compared with the 1st half year of 2010, slightly lower
growth rate were of Astronautic Bashan and Loncin, other
companies were more than double-digit growth, Lifan and
Zongshen were at the top growth rates. In the first
half, the 10 companies exporting 2,661,800 motorcycles,
accounting for 54% of total exports volume.

The 10 companies exported $1.425 billion, representing
53% of total motorcycle manufacturers' exports in the
1st half year of 2011.
Earlier, according to China Association of Automobile
Manufacturers (CAAM), statistics and analysis by
Information Statistics Department of CAAM, collected
from 91 main Chinese motorcycle manufacturers export
products data in 2010, reported on 25 January 2011 was
as under.
In 2010, motorcycle manufacturers export products
generated close to US$ 4.5 billion, with motorcycles
export volume amounted to over 8 million. Overall,
motorcycle manufacturers exported in 2010 were mainly
characterized by the following characteristics:
1. Rapid export growth in both volume and value. The
figure was higher than the same period of the previous
year (2009). The average monthly exports of 2010 were
over 700,000 units, which was lower than that of 2008
but higher than that of any other years. In 2010,
motorcycle manufacturers' export ended the previous year
downturn trend, showing rapid growing rate. As of the
end of 2010, motorcycle export was valued US$ 4.463
billion in total, with increase of 29.10%. Of which,
compared to the same period in 2009, Chinese
manufacturers exported 8.416 million motorcycles, with
increase of 33.89%, which was valued $3.775 billion,
with increase of 30.69%; Exported 80,800 ATV, with
decrease of 7.18%, which was valued $132 million, with
increase of 25.79%; Exported 2,249,200 engine units,
with increase of 22.06%, which was valued $283 million,
with increase of 14.45%; Exported parts & accessories
was valued $273 million, with increase of 26.13%.
2. The leading 5 displacements of motorcycle export were
still stable in the industry, of which 150ml had fastest
growing in export. In 2010, the five motorcycle
displacements (125ml, 150ml, 110ml, 100ml and 50ml)
continued to dominate the exporting market. According to
statistics, as of the end of 2010, export volume of the
five displacements was 7,733,600 in total, accounting
for 91.89% of total exports of motorcycles, which was
valued $3.387 billion, accounting for 89.72% of total
value of motorcycle exports.
The 2010 figure indicates that: (compared to 2009) 125ml
remained as No.1 share of export, the total of export
volume was 2,938,300 with increase of 27.77%, accounting
for 34.91% of total motorcycle export volume, which was
valued $1.372 billion with increase of 26.10%,
accounting for 36.34% of total value of motorcycle
export;
150ml
had fastest growth rate, with total export volume of
1,563,100 with increase of 79.94%, which was valued $764
million with increase of 76.18%;
110ml
showed outstanding performance as well, the exporting
volume exceeded that of 100ml for very first time, the
exporting value exceeded that of 50ml for very first
time, positioned in the 3rd place, by total export
volume of 1,169,600 with increase of 40.47%, which was
valued $451 million with increase of 30.76%;
100ml
also showed faster growth in total exports, by export
volume of 1,117,100 with increase of 26.09%, which was
valued $386 million, with increase of 23.27%;
50ml, compared
with the previous years, growth rate was significantly
lower than the other dominant species, by total export
volume of 945,500 with increase of 15.85%, which was
valued $414 million with increase of 2.28%. From recent
two years, export performance of 50ml was no longer
outstanding.
Nevertheless, it is worth saying that the tricycles
exporting performed relatively well in 2010, by total
export volume of 124,400 with increase of 40%, which was
valued $93 million with increase of 10%.
3. The key export manufacturers showed steady growth
overall, 10 entities of which was still the highest
share of the exporting market. Within 2010, the
"backbone" companies showed relative growing rate,
recovered from the downturn in the first half year of
2010. According to the 91 motorcycle manufacturers
export statistics, there were 14 entities whose
exporting value exceeded $100 million in the businesses,
4 more than last year, with total export value of $2.781
billion, accounting for 62.31% of total motorcycle
exports.

As noted, Chongqing owns five of them. Compared with the
previous year of 2009, in addition to Dayun less than
10% growth, the other companies were more than 25%
growth rate, of which Astronautic Bashan, Lifan and
Haojin had significant growth rate. In 2010, the 10
companies exported value of $2.304 billion, accounting
for 51.62% of total motorcycle enterprises production
exports.
In 2010, there were 26 entities whose motorcycles export
volume exceeded 100,000, five more than last year, with
total export volume of 6.9696 million, accounting for
82.81% of total export volume of motorcycles.

As noted, Chongqing owns six of them. Compared with last
year of 2009, ten companies were at various growing
rate, of which Zongshen, Haojin and Astronautic Bashan
ran into the top growing rate. In 2010, the 10 companies
exported 4,421,600 motorcycles in total, accounting for
52.54% of total motorcycles export volume.
